Yom HaShoah Program at Bronx Science
Wednesday, May 1 at 10:15 am - 12 pm at The Bronx High School of Science, located at 75 W. 205th St. Bronx 10468. The event will feature a talk entitled: What Happened to the Passengers on the MS St. Louis by Sonja Geismar a Riverdale resident and survivor of Kristallnacht and the MS St Louis, the ill-fated ship that returned to Europe after unsuccessfully seeking ports of entry in Cuba, the United States, and Canada. Following the talk guests will be invited to a student-led tour of the Stuart S. Elenko Holocaust Museum. This museum started in 1979 by Stuart Elenko, a history teacher at the school, who was one of the country’s leading authorities on the holocaust, is the nation’s second oldest major collection of Holocaust artifacts. Kosher for Passover Lunch
New Beginnings, the Riverdale Y's Older Adult Center, will be open for Kosher for Passover lunch on Monday, April 22, Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26. You must register as a member of New Beginnings to participate. Membership is free for New York City residents age 60+ and you can register when you come for lunch. The KCI Kosher Food Pantry
continues to provide basic non-perishable and seasonal perishable food items, including produce (like potatoes, oranges and cucumbers) and sources of protein. The food has been made available to the Pantry at no-cost by Met Council and is available for anyone who thinks that a little extra help will benefit you and/or your family. No vetting process.
